The lives of two women, Maya, a renowned journalist, and Ruksana, her domestic help, turn upside down after a hit-and-run incident.
Jalsa Movie Plot:
“Jalsa” revolves around Maya Menon, a successful and influential TV journalist known for her hard-hitting truth-telling on her show “Face The Truth.” She enjoys celebrity status and lives a seemingly perfect life with her son Ayush, who has cerebral palsy, and her mother. However, Maya’s life takes a dramatic turn when she falls asleep at the wheel and accidentally hits a young girl while driving home.
Deeply shaken, Maya arrives home and tries to cover up the accident, unaware that Rukhsana, Ayush’s caretaker and cook, had witnessed her distress. As the truth unravels, it is revealed that the girl Maya hit is Rukhsana’s daughter. Rukhsana is puzzled by her daughter’s presence in the neighborhood and the late-night incident.
The police officer assigned to the case discovers his own indiscretion on the CCTV footage prior to the accident. Motivated to protect himself and his daughter’s upcoming wedding, he suppresses the evidence of Maya’s crime. It later emerges that the girl was recording videos for social media and had recently broken up with her boyfriend, who works at a mechanic’s shop.

Maya’s driver, who finds the damaged car and an earring belonging to the girl, deduces Maya’s involvement but remains silent, desperate for financial assistance to cover his family’s critical expenses. Also, Maya confesses to her boss, who advises her to stay silent to protect both their personal relationship and the success of the news station.
